End of production


Hey guys! We finally reached the end of the production phase and are already really happy with the result. We have a lot of exciting features to announce as well as some minor bugfixes. Let's get right into the headlines!

Game modes

Yeah that's right. We now have a new way of playing Grave Rave! Don't have much time? You can play a time based game. At the top where the boombox's health bars are you will now find a small box in the center with a countdown. The moment this reaches zero, the player who's boombox is blasting wins. This is great if you want short, fast-paced games with some friends. If you can destroy the base before the timer runs out, then you're an absolute savage and deserve that victory times two!

Animations

We know we have been talking about animations a lot these last couple of weeks/months... But now we finally have all the animations/meshes and particle effects in the game, some of them still need some polishing but we'll go over the basic changes now: 

Characters

Each character now has its own unique animations, defined by their taste in music.

Zombies

Zombies now have a mesh, textures and animations, talk about change! Zombies will crawl out of the ground from the graves in the center of the map. The zombies conversion level is now visible to its brain, so we actually have two materials for the zombie: one for the body and one for the brain. 

Other

The boomboxes are now textured and animated as well as new animations for pickups and environment.

Character selection?!

The main purpose of the game is to be able to fight for the best music genre, but up until now there was no way to actually choose the best. Well now there is! You can scroll through all available characters and confirm by pressing 'A' on an XBOX controller. Once the teams choose their music/character the battle can begin!

Other changes

We did some rescaling of the play field as well as some layout changes. The field looks more alive and playable. Also pickups can now be on the field at the same time, this means instead of always having only one pickup there is now a possibility to have multiple. Some small environment changes. 

Testing our game and leaving a comment on our page is greatly appreciated. We can take these comments into consideration while working on this gem. Keep in mind, each build we put online, in these weeks, is not a finished version of our work.
