Player feedback and events


This week’s update is all about player feedback. Last week we added a cool feature, pickups, this week we’ll be showcasing visual feedback you get from them and some other small changes.

Events

One of the pickups we mentioned last week, were events. These events have impact on gameplay. Possibly breaking any stalling type of play. Multiple different events are implemented, when an event pickup spawns it will be visible before picking it up.

Different events are: Kill all the zombies currently in play, spawn a massive zombie, freeze the players, make the zombies change team and a camera rotation to play with the players head.

When making the Camera event, we encountered some very amusing bugs like this one:

Player Feedback

To show the player what is happening in the game, the player needs so visual feedback. So for example if I were to pick up a speed boost, I should know that I did and continue. The shooting feedback is something we had planned for a long time and now finally is into place. As for the pickups, small icons appear above your ammo depending on which pickup you got.

Minor changes

There are also some minor changes like, zombies are now wandering when they spawn in.

A new introduced feature is that when you convert a zombie for a second time, it will move faster. But if you try to convert it more than 5 times it will simply explode. This fastens gameplay and makes sure there are not too many zombies in the field at any given time.
